Hello NANM family. My name
is Darryl Chamberlain. I am the NANM Inc. webmaster.
If your branch does not have a website, you can get on the internet
now! Everybody who is anybody is on the internet. A web
page is a powerful tool to keep your people informed. You can post
upcoming meetings, directions to special events, correspondence
information to name a few! Tired of staying up all night
playing phone tag just to keep everyone informed? Put it on
the webpage.
A web page can be a virtual
business card! Direct all of your patrons to your webpage.
How do you get started? Read on and find out. If you are
not on the internet, you are behind the times!

In order to get your
branch on the internet, you need three things:

1. A
domain name.

2.
Web space to store your site information.
|
| |
3. A person to develop
your webpage.
|

The domain name is the name
that you choose by which people can find you. You pay a fee
to reserve a domain name for as long as you want it.
Most companies that register domains charge $35.00 per year.
Some budget companies will offer them as cheap as $3.00.
You just have to shop around. As long as you pay for
the name it is yours. The domain name can be anything
that you want. However, do not make the mistake that
many users do by picking a domain name that is hard to
remember or hard to spell. Keep it simple. The ideal domain name
can be given to a patron who will remember it by the time he
gets home. |
Web space is also purchased from service providers who give you the space
to place your WebPages and allow you to connect your domain name
to the page so that your page can be viewed when someone enters
your domain name. You do have to shop around because the
prices vary. Ask me how and I can connect you to a company
that can get you web space for 6.95 per month.

Finally, you need someone to
develop and manage your web page for you. Again, you will have
to shop around as the prices do vary and as web pages go, you will get
what you pay for. The cheaper the fee, the cheaper your site
will look. I am available to develop web pages for any of the
NANM branches or you can shop around and locate a vendor to provide
