NANM Sings Spirituals

The National Association of Negro Musicians, Inc. proudly presents its first compact disc recording of traditional Spirituals, “sung the old-time way!”  In an effort to preserve authentic Negro Spirituals (as much as possible), these songs were recorded in two sessions during Annual Meetings in 2003 in Los Angeles and in 2005 in St. Louis.  NANM members, along with local church choir members in each city, joined forces to simulate a camp meeting or other type of worship gathering in which our ancestors would have participated in group song. These are not arrangements, but are sung in the folk tradition.
